Experience ASEAN 2018

January 2018

2018 is a big year for Singapore, especially in regards to ASEAN. Singapore has been given the Chairmanship status of the group over from Phillipines, the Chairman of 2017.

With the tagline of Resilient and Innovative, Singapore is kicking off the Chairmanship with a bang: three days of fun-filled, star-studded event at the heart of the nation. All kinds of activities from art & craft, food stalls hopping, to watching performances by local artists.

With such a grand vision, Kingsmen Creative who was acting as the event organizer approached us to get unique and innovative ideas to enhance the event experience. In just one meeting we formulated the plan and we kicked it into high gear soon after.

The idea was to have two experiences:

1. Augmented Reality selfie app

In order to entice visitors to walk around the area, we scattered some stamps for them to collect. Getting the stamps is as easy as taking a selfie. Once a visitor stands beside a poster of the mascot and launch the selfie app, the 3D augmented avatar of the mascot will appear. Getting 5 stamps entitle them to get special prizes. In addition to the selfie function, schedule, map and social feed was added to make the app more useful to visitors.

2. Experience ASEAN Virtual Reality

Promoting other ASEAN countries via brochure and verbal communication is good... but not good enough. We want visitors to feels what it's like to visit other ASEAN countries. With the help of 360 videos from various global trotters, we collated some great travel vlogs. Using Samsung Gear VR and smartphones to deliver the content, visitors were left in awe as they saw themselves transported hundreds of kilometers away to experience life in SEA.

One of the biggest challenges in this project is time. With less than 2 months to the actual event, rushing is an understatement. But we are proud to say that we delivered on time with the quality that is well and above expectations. Our clients were very satisfied with our creativity and hard work.
